What the World Needs Now …

In these uncertain times, when it’s necessary to stay away from the things we enjoy and apart from those we love … for the good of humanity, the arts community has come together “virtually” to bring hope into our homes.

This recording of “What the World Needs Now,” by Burt Bacharach was performed by a “virtual orchestra” coordinated by Shelbie Rassler. She adds, “Just a little something to brighten your day. What started as an idea on my flight home from college ended in a collaboration with some of the most incredible people. I couldn't be more grateful. Please share to help us promote positivity and optimism while we need it most.” Listen HERE.

Renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma has recorded a series called #SongsOfComfort with a new recording of Dvořák’s "Going Home.” Listen to it HERE.

There are many more examples across the globe from poets, actors, dancers, musicians and other artists sharing their gifts. We’ll add them to our website.

Locally, many artists are also joining in on the virtual movement! ORMACO has cancelled or postponed events for now; but they will be livestreaming the Pat Masalko Concert at Wadsworth Public Library on April 19 from their website and Facebook airing at 2 pm. Go HERE for more details.

Also, go to our website for past performances presented by ORMACO from their “World Tour of Music” including, “Elise” by Le Vent du Nord from Quebec.

Wadsworth Community Radio 97.1 FM now streams their programming live from their website: Click HERE.

Express Your Virtual Self!

Do you have any home photos or videos … or recordings of music, dance, art, poetry, etc. that you want to share with the Medina County arts community? Email your information and the video or link HERE and we’ll include it on the Community Events page of our website for others to enjoy and share. Amateurs and professionals welcome!

With so many out of work and resources stretched, it is difficult to ask, but if you are in a position to do so, will you consider a special donation to Medina County Arts Council to help us adjust to the new norm? We plan to provide more online resources like concerts, workshops and classes for all ages … any amount is appreciated!
